Hand and foot reflexology to relieve stress-related illness and diagnosed medical conditions.

Try Hand and Foot Reflexology for Relaxation and Better Health: the average person, engaging in non-strenuous activity, walks approximately 115,000 miles in their lifetime. Our feet contain 25% of all the bones in the human body and there are about 7,200 nerve endings in each foot. Socrates, the Greek philosopher once said "When our feet hurt, we hurt all over"; how true.

Our feet can mirror our general health, yet how many of us consider our feet at all until they hurt? Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all organs, glands and parts of the body. The reflexologist uses a unique ‘thumb walking’ technique to work over the top and bottom of the foot or hand, stimulating the reflexes and working areas where minor discomfort may represent health problems in the body.

Many people are turning to complementary therapies as a way of maintaining good health and coping with specific conditions. Reflexology has been known to improve or even eliminate many ailments in four to six treatments, depending on the length of time a condition has been present. The technique is suitable for all ages, children or adults. In short Reflexology aims to restore or help maintain a healthy balanced body and mind by relieving stress and tension, improving nerve function, blood supply and strengthening the immune system.

Dr Melanie Jones (PhD, IIR Regd. MAR) has undertaken advanced training in the USA with Dwight Byers, President of the International Institute of Reflexology. Dwight Byers developed Hand Reflexology and was trained by Eunice Ingham. Ingham, a physiotherapist, was the originator of Foot Reflexology and she first mapped the reflex areas in conjunction with American medical doctors in the 1930’s. Currently there are three IIR qualified original Ingham Method Reflexologist’s in the Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire Region. Melanie is Ingham Method trained and works from barefoot pleasures in Kemnay.
