Kemnay Quarry & Place of Origin
 If you are in the Kemnay area you might be interested in seeing inside the quarry and getting good views of the countryside around Kemnay, not forgetting Kemnay itself.
On the Kintore to Alford road (B994) just as you enter Kemnay; if you look to your right you will see the Point of Origin (Place of Origin)
If you then take the first right there is a car park on the right near the top of the hill. It is a short walk up to the Point of Origin from there. When you get closer you can see the path spiral to the top of the Sculpture where you can look into the Quarry itself.
There are also views of the surrounding area. Be warned, I have been up there on a calm day and it has been cold and windy. The short walk is worth the views though and the view inside the quarry can be had with relative safety.

You can see some stones with the drill holes still in them
Enjoy the views and they are for free.

These quarries seem a lot bigger than I thought they were. I suppose I've only seen them driving across to Inverurie, and just didn't think.
Your photos show you can take quite a spectacular walk up around them - with the current weather I think it'd make for a great outting.
And I like the photos so much I'll use them in other sections of this site. That is if you don't mind :D

Note that the quarry is full of water in the early photo and dry in the later one when the quarry was being worked again to extract the Granite.

It looks like a great project, just the sort of thing our beautiful countryside and rich cultural heritage can do with
The pamphlet mentioned blocks from India, but I couldn't find them in the pictures and the artists said they weren't going to be installing sculptures. You don't know what that's about do you BoB?
