Could this be the first great film of the 21st century as the publicity claims? A middle class couple, Georges and Anne, start to receive tapes showing video footage of their Parisian apartment. Georges, with some dark secrets hinted at through flashbacks to his childhood, sets out to find the person responsible. Although a thriller on one level this film plays with the audience – keep looking for clues and you may delude yourself like Georges, as we witness his gradual unravelling. The impossible camera angles of the videos and the final lingering shot seem to indicate that it is us the audience or the film makers themselves who are the real voyeurs here. Judge for yourselves!
